Health & Safety

We hold your health and safety above all.

Providing a safe and healthy venue for our staff, guests, clients and business partners is our number one priority. We want you to be confident that we have taken all steps necessary to ensure our venue is among the safest places to host and attend events.

Proof of Full Vaccination

Attendees aged 12+ must present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (18+ must also present government-issued ID), at least 14 days from 2nd dose of a 2-dose vaccine or a single dose of Janssen.

The Alberta vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital) is the only valid Alberta-issued proof of vaccination accepted as of November 15.

If you’re visiting from elsewhere in Canada, only provincial-issued QR codes (paper or digital) are accepted. See here for list of Proof of Vaccination samples. ArriveCan documentation for international travallers will continue to be accepted.

Health & Safety FAQ

The Edmonton EXPO Centre has developed our Healthy Venues Plan—a document of protocols that are implemented to ensure our venue remains among the safest places to plan and attend events. Before coming to an event at our venue, we encourage you to acquaint yourself with all protocols within the Healthy Venues Plan. Guests can expect the following measures to be in place:

  • Guests who are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 are expected to stay home.
  • Masks or face-coverings are mandatory while remaining within the Edmonton EXPO Centre. All Edmonton EXPO Centre staff will continue to wear masks or face-coverings while within our facility.
  • Protocols will help maintain a two-meter distance between people outside of your group cohort.
  • Onsite signage will remind you of physical distancing and personal preventative measures we can all take to protect ourselves from COVID-19.
  • We will increase the frequency of which high-contact areas are cleaned and sanitized.
  • We will reduce event space, elevator and restroom capacities to comply with public health restrictions.
  • Increased hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the venue.
  • Measures will be taken to ensure we are providing a safe environment that supports a healthy workforce.

  • After October 25: proof of double vaccination is required.
  • Tests must be privately-paid COVID-19 PCR or rapid tests completed within 72 hours before accessing a program or service.
  • Tests must not be from Alberta Health Services or Alberta Precision Laboratories.

Vaccine eligible individuals can access their COVID-19 immunization records through the Government of Alberta’s website www.albertavaccinerecord.ca or MyHealth Records. To avoid delays, please have your vaccination records easy to access when you arrive to an event.

Negative COVID-19 tests must be privately paid PCR or rapid antigen tests completed within 72 hours of the event. Tests must not be from Alberta Health Services or Alberta Precision Laboratories.

In accordance with City of Edmonton Bylaw 19408 and Government of Alberta mandates, masks or face-coverings are mandatory while within publicly accessible spaces of the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Some exceptions may apply including:

  • Children under 2
  • Eating or drinking while seated in designated spaces
  • As per Government of Alberta mandates, anyone unable to wear a mask due to a medical continue will require a medical exception letter from an authorized health professional

The Edmonton EXPO Centre reserves the right to remove those who do not comply with our posted policies regarding mask wearing at our venue.

Masking exemptions are available for those two years old and under and anyone unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition. If you are unable to wear a mask due to medical reasons, you must provide a medical exemption letter from an authorized health professional to be exempt from mask wearing at the Edmonton EXPO Centre.

Medical exemption letters must be presented upon arrival to the Edmonton EXPO Centre and must be from an authorized nurse practitioner, physician or psychologist. See Government of Alberta masking requirements for more information.

You may remove your mask to eat or drink in designated food and beverage service areas throughout the Edmonton EXPO Centre.

We have implemented touchless systems, including online and tap payments, throughout the venue and within our parking lots.

Please reach out to the event producer of the event you are attending to request a refund. All refunds will be at the discretion of the event producer.

Please report any concerns you may have about the cleanliness or safety of our building to contact@edmontonexpocentre.com

Health and Safety Protocols

In addition to following all public health restrictions implemented by the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the City of Edmonton, we have enhanced our health and safety protocols throughout our entire operations. Some highlights include:

Staff Screening

Edmonton EXPO Centre staff will be subject to enhanced screening measures upon arrival to their shifts.

Physical Distancing

Protocols will help maintain a two-meter distance between you and other people outside your group cohort.

Cleaning and Sanitization

We will increase the frequency of which all front-of-house and high-contact areas are cleaned and sanitized.

Healthy Venues Plan

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with all health and safety protocols that will be in place during your next visit to the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Our Healthy Venues Plan is informed by the latest information from the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services and is backed by best practices in cleaning and sanitization.

Healthy Venues Plan

GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation

The Edmonton EXPO Centre is among the first venues in Canada to successfully achieve the GBAC Star Accreditation, which is the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation for facilities. This means our cleaning and sanitation programs are accredited and validated by the gold standard program that prepares venues with the right systems to protect against biorisks, including COVID-19.
